ANDROID APPLICATION DEVELOPMENT – RELATED TO UG. PG COURSE (IRRIGATION ENGINEERING, HYDROLOGY)
An Android app is developed for forecasting the Krishna River flow at different locations as per the requirement of Sangali irrigation section, WRD, Govt. of Maharashtra
- Aim : To develop an handy mobile android app for flood forecasting which will be utilised to give an early warnings of floods at the time of real time decision support system by the engineers of WRD , Govt. of Maharashtra . This app is delivered to Sangli Irrigation division, WRD, Govt. of Maharashtra
- Faculty Involved: Prof. S. N. Londhe, Dr. P.R. Dixit, Dr. P.S. Kulkarni, Dr. K. Wanjale (This app is developed in together efforts of Civil and Computer engineering department. It is an Interdisciplinary innovative Application)

Faculties of Department of Civil Engineering, Vishwakarma Institute of Information Technology, Pune (VIIT., Pune), Prof. Shreenivas Londhe, Dr. Pradnya Dixit, Dr. Preeti Kulkarni, Dr. Keerti Wanjale (Computer Engineering Department) developed an ANDROID APPLICATION for 24 to 72 hours advance forecasting of Krishna River flow, with the help of ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE and GENETIC SYSTEM and was handed over to Water Resources Department of Maharashtra Government on 30th September 2022.
On this occasion, Hon. Mr. V. G. Rajput, Secretary of Water Resources Department of Government of Maharashtra (Project Coordination) Department of Water Resources, Ministry, Mumbai, Prof. D. G. Regular -Professor Govt. College of Engineering, Aurangabad, Mr. Bharat Agarwal – Managing Trustee VIIT, Pune, Prof. V. S. Deshpande, Director – VIIT, Pune, Dr. H. T. Dhumal – Chief Engineer, Water Resources Department Pune, Er. M. J. Naik – Superintending Engineer of Sangli Irrigation Department, Dr. S. T. Shinde -Associate Professor & Head, VIIT Pune, Mr. Bandivadekar -Executive Engineer, Kolhapur Irrigation Department and all department heads, deans, faculty and students of VIIT were present.
By predicting the flow of the river 24 to 72 hours in advance through this system, it will be possible to reduce financial and life losses in the area.
At the same time, “CENTRE OF EXCELLENCE FOR APPLICATIONS OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE TECHNIQUES IN CIVIL ENGINEERING” was inaugurated in the Department of Civil Engineering
