Students’ Speak
In Department of Science and Humanities, where students coming from different cities and regions and having different mindset are first introduced to VIT College. DESH is responsible for making our foundation strong. With extremely helpful teachers who are always motivating us to participate and explore various activities, DESH is responsible for making us feel comfortable in the college for the challenges of the upcoming years. The professors are helpful and very approachable. We can also go and talk to the head of the department, in case we have any concerns or doubts, and he makes sure that they are solved in due course of time. The curriculum is very well designed in way to give us maximum exposure to the basics of industry and we get ample of opportunities to showcase our talent.
First year is the most memorable year for every student and DESH department does a remarkably job in making sure that the students enjoy their student life while laying the ground for the coming years.
As an international student I can say that VIT is the best engineering college to be at! The staff and teachers of DESH are very passionate and show genuine desire to help students to achieve their goals. The college has great modern facilities which promote great learning environment and flexible schedules that suit to meet the needs of an international student like me. What I also love in the institution is the fact that I was able to meet different people with different cultural backgrounds and also to learn a lot new things. VIT has been a “Home away from Home”, for me and the first year was an absolutely a memorable period of my life.
It has been a year of intriguing experiences, with DESH. The academic teachings and clubs for extra-curricular had a great hand in the overall development. Mini-project and course projects help me in acquiring a technical view to solve social problems. And with extra-curricular clubs(TRF, EPEC), I got to bond and share ideas with other students and seniors. With social activities like Atmabodh, I received self-satisfaction for helping the elderly in society. Bonding with teachers and students working for the same goals was great!
My Engineering Journey started with DESH department in VIT College. From the 1st day of college, Every Faculty member was supportive and guided and motivated us for selecting good projects. There were courses like GP and foreign language which actually gave us the platform to learn many new things. HOD and all the faculty members of DESH department are quite co- operative. I feel DESH department is like a happy place for every VITian!
DESH was an amazing initiative by VIT Pune. We were exposed to different computer languages like C, Python and also Robotics from the first day of College. DESH is an epitome of how a college should bring new ideas into practice. The overall assessment which See's the students complete skills rather than just seeing the MSE-ESE marks, which helps the students to be industry ready just from the beginning of FY
With DESH, it was totally a new experience for me after taking admission in VIT, Pune. My first year in DESH has been incredible, it has been my pivot for all round development. The faculty are very supportive and knowledgeable and provide excellent guidance. The subjects have also been planned very thoughtfully,according to industrial demands. All the extracurricular activities, clubs and events provide excellent opportunities to grow and learn. VIT, is a remarkable college and I am proud to be a part of it
I had a great experience in DESH as the curriculum consisted of very much interesting topics also the Capstone Projects helped me to gain knowledge regarding various domains in a very short span of time and implement it in real-time projects successfully
The DESH department's presence motivates the FY students and the teachers are also quite supportive.Thank you for taking the road less travelled - the department's hard work has taken the organization to new heights.The assessment scheme and the extracurricular activities, together help the student grow and learn.

Joining the DESH (Department of Engineering Science and Humanities) at VIT Pune was the beginning of an exciting and transformative journey. My first year was filled with learning, hands-on experiences, and valuable mentorship that helped shape my technical and analytical skills. Beyond academics, the DESH Department provided numerous opportunities to participate in technical and extracurricular activities, allowing me to grow holistically. The balance between theoretical knowledge and practical application made my first year truly enriching. Looking ahead, I am excited to continue this journey, build upon my experiences, and contribute more to the dynamic and innovative environment of the DESH Department!
One of the most memorable moments of the year was the EDAI Project Exhibition. It was a fantastic platform to explore and present innovative ideas, applying the concepts we learned in class to real-world problems. Seeing the enthusiasm of students and the encouragement from faculty members made the experience even more rewarding. The exhibition highlighted the department’s emphasis on practical learning and creativity, inspiring me to dive deeper into problem-solving.
My experience in the FY department, DESH, has been truly amazing. All the teachers were incredibly supportive and always willing to help students with any questions or concerns. Their teaching methods were engaging, and they made complex topics easier to understand.
Chandrashekhar Mahajan sir (HOD of DESH) was also very approachable and supportive, fostering a positive learning environment. The encouragement and guidance provided by both the faculty and the HOD sir made a significant difference in my learning journey.
Overall, I feel fortunate to have been a part of such a dedicated and inspiring department who made my FY journey so easier and enjoyable
