Inside the Department
We innovate machines that drive progress.
What makes VIT stand out is the kind of opportunities it offers to students, along with academics, which include conferences, research projects, foreign language proficiency, soft skills, a student exchange program, internships, extracurricular activities, and great placement statistics. Teaching and learning at the Department of Mechanical Engineering have been absolutely top-class and have contributed to a strong foundation. It is a nice blend of theory, practical sessions, seminars, workshops, industrial visits, and real-life projects. The lab facilities are very good and give hands-on experience. The department has played a major role in shaping my career.I became a responsible engineer and citizen during my tenure at VIT.
Mrunal Vaze
Final Year B.Tech, Mechanical
It’s been three years since I joined VIT in Pune. Each day of these three years has been full of Learning, Understanding, Sharing, and Growing. I am sure these will be my golden days whenever I travel down memory lane in the future. The Mechanical Engineering Faculty Members have been Exceptional. Many of them – as Gurus – have played the exemplary role of being a Friend, Philosopher and Guide. My Salutations to all. I assure you all, dear Teachers, that I will strive to the best of my ability to become an Engineer of whom my country, my family, my college, and my teachers would be proud.

I credit my alma mater, Vishwakarma Institute of Technology, for shaping me into the engineer I am today. The exceptional faculty in the Mechanical Engineering department ignited my passion for machine dynamics and emphasised the significance of electronics and robotics. Through engaging experiences in robotics, AI clubs, workshops, and exposure to industry training and conferences, my educational journey at this institution has transformed me into a dedicated lifelong learner.

VIT Alumni Mechanical
The Department of Mechanical Engineering is one of the college’s most celebrated departments. Unique to its offering is the well-equipped lab facilities, opportunities not just limited to technical know-how and relations with academic universities and industries but also the freedom to experiment and learn on our own. I feel proud to be associated with an institute of such an established reputation and look forward to seeing it grow.
Neha Shinde
VIT Alumni Mechanical, Year of Graduation 2013
The holistic approach at VIT, blending academics with a lively extracurricular scene and the technical expertise gained from Veloce Racing, played a crucial role in preparing students for corporate interviews and postgraduate studies. I secured a position in Kirloskar Oil Engines, working in the R&D section.
